5 Products I'm Loving as a New Mom
First and foremost, let me say that none of these companies have paid me or given me any product. These are all things I have either purchased personally or were purchased by friends and family and given as gifts. That said, this post contains affiliate links and by clicking them I may receive a small commission, at no additional cost to you.
My little guy is about 2 and a half months old now and these are the products we’ve been using day in and day out to make life easier! He is exclusively formula fed at this point (don’t at me, I’ll share my breastfeeding story soon, trust it’s not what I wanted), gaining healthy weight and sleeping well through the night! Of course, every parenthood experience is unique and these things may or may not work for you, your baby, or your life, but I’ve found them to be really helpful! Without further ado…
Dr. Brown’s Formula Pitcher: G is taking around 35-36 ounces of formula a day at this point. We started off making individuals bottles whenever he was hungry but once he started cluster feeding, we just couldn’t keep up! This pitcher makes it super easy to make a full day’s worth of formula to stash in the fridge and pour as needed. I love the mixing wheel that makes sure there’s no clumps in there and everything is blended nicely. I usually make an extra ounce or two just in he needs a little more ( or sometimes less) at different points in the day. The pitcher is dishwasher safe (though I hand wash it at the end of the day), easy to open and pour with one hand!
Momcozy Bottle Warmer: This was all my mom, but I love it now! I really thought a bottle warmer was an entirely ridiculous thing when hot water comes out of the tap BUT - it’s honestly a great little gadget. I even timed it a few times to see if it would be faster for me to stick the bottle in hot water from the sink…it is not. This one doesn’t take up a lot of counter space and is super easy to use. Just add water, turn the knob the amount in the bottle and tap twice to get it going. It even remembers your settings so once you’re established, you don’t have to keep setting it. I love that we don’t have to check the temperature of the milk because it only warms it to a safe temperature. There’s also a “keep warm” feature that kicks in so if you don’t get to the bottle right away (hello diaper blow out!) It won’t get cold on you. I will say we often pull the bottle a little early, only because my nugget has NO patience when he’s hungry!
Hatch Rest: I loved this for overnight feedings, and now it’s great for nap time and bed time. I set it to a soft pink light and ocean sounds so that I could see without turning on all the lights in the middle of the night. Red toned light is better at promoting sleep (keeping baby sleepy) than blue or other colors. Now I use it when I put him down for naps because he’s a big white noise fan! It soothes him instantly and helps him get to sleep. You can purchase additional sounds within the app but honestly, it comes with plenty already included!
Halo Swivel Sleeper Bassinet: I LOVE having G close to me at night - it’s really just peace of mind. His crib is also in my room but he sleeps in this bassinet. The 360° spin not only makes it easy to get him in and out of it; it makes it easy for ME to get in and out of bed on the same side. It also has one collapsible side that pushes down to also help get baby in and out (hey short moms!), I use that a lot in the middle of the night to check if he’s breathing! There’s a little side pocket where I usually stash an extra burp cloth and pacifier. It also has some great features that are battery operated. We’re big fans of the vibration and heartbeat sound (again, I have a white noise kid), which are a huge help if he starts fussing overnight.
Philips Sonicare Toothbrush 4100: Roll with me here. I know, not directly a baby related product BUT…I developed some gum issues during pregnancy (very common apparently) and my dentist told me to brush with slow, gentle strokes…I have NO patience for this. I also have an infant and can’t spend more than 2 minutes brushing my teeth. So I got this toothbrush on sale and it really made a difference! It’s very gentle (which I am not with a manual toothbrush), and it has a 2 minute timer so it’s one less thing your mom brain has to count out! Not only that, but the timer is divided into 30 second segments so you can make sure you get all parts of your mouth evenly. It’s literally one of those little things that makes adulthood stupid but I really like it!
I hope you found this little list helpful! Feel free to let me know what you might add to it, because I’m always on the look out!
